To properly care for your rugs, vacuum regularly to remove dry soil, taking care with fringe and edging. Restorative cleaning should take place at regular intervals to remove embedded soils. Most cleaning methods can be used on synthetic fibers; however, natural fibers often require specialized care. (Do-it-yourself cleaning of area rugs containing natural fibers other than cotton is discouraged.)

The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends that natural fiber rugs are maintained by having them cleaned for deep soils regularly. It is recommended that they be cleaned by a professional as there are many factors that can cause damage to your rug during cleaning.
